Rowley (0-3-1) jumped out to a 3 to 1
lead after one inning and increased the lead to 5 to 2 after 4
innings. Beverly (3-5-1) scratched for 2 runs in the 5th and 1
run in the 6th to tie the game at 5 but that would be all the scoring
in the game. Beverly's Kyle Sewyck left the winning run on 3rd
base in the bottom of the 7th inning as he notched his 10th strikeout
of the night to end the game as a tie. Sewyck allowed 5 runs in 7
innings on 10 hits and 3 walks.
Beverly's offense managed only 5 runs despite stealing 13 bases on the
night. Jeff Barricelli was 2 for 3 with 3 steals to pace the
Giants offense. Derek Scialdone knocked in two runs.
